2009 General Election
The 2009 General Election will take place on Tuesday November 3rd. Polls will be open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Voters will choose candidates for local city, town and county offices, and Supreme Court Justices, and will also vote on two propositions, and in some areas will also vote on their library budget. Sample ballots may be found at the Warren County Board of Elections site. Registered voters may find their polling place through the NYS Voter Registration Search page.

Special Election March 31
Governor David Paterson has set a tentative date for the special election to fill the vacant 20th Congressional District seat to Tuesday, March 31.
Democratic candidate Scott Murphy will speak at his campaign headquarters at 3 Warren St. in Glens Falls Thursday, February 12 at 12:30 PM.
Murphy's first TV ad is now appearing, and his campaign site will also be updated on Thursday.
20th CD Democrats select Scott Murphy
Warren County Democratic Committee Chair Bill Montfort, and county chairs representing the other counties in the 20th Congressional District met in Albany on February 1st, and after interviewing several finalist candidates, selected Glens Falls resident Scott Murphy to run in the special election to fill the vacancy in the 20th congressional district seat resulting from Kirsten Gillibrand's appointment to the Senate. The date for this special election will be set by Governor David Paterson.
Warren County is proud that one of its own will run for the 20th CD seat. Please take a few minutes to visit Scott Murphy's campaign site and give your support. Scott Murphy is Managing Director of Advantage Capital Partners in Glens Falls. Several years ago he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for the Governor of Missouri. He is also President of the Upstate Venture Association of New York. Previously, he acted as CEO of Small World Software. Murphy holds a B.A. from Harvard where he was President of Perspective, a monthly political magazine.

Congratulations to Hillary Clinton and Kirsten Gillibrand on their new appointments!
Secretary of State
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has been appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as Secretary of State, and has been confirmed by the Senate.
Senate
Representative Kirsten Gillibrand has been appointed by Governor David Paterson to fill the Senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton. Senator Gillibrand will serve in this seat and run in a 2010 special election to fill the remainder of Senator Clinton's term which expires in 2012. The next regularly scheduled election will take place in 2012.
House of Representatives
Representative Gillibrand has resigned her House seat to be sworn in as Senator. Her House seat is now vacant, and a special election will be scheduled to elect a new representative to fill the remainder of her term. The date of this election has not been determined. Candidate selection has begun. During the vacancy, Representative Gillibrand's district offices and Washington office will remain open and available to serve constituents needs, operating under the direction of Office of the Clerk. Absentee Voting
Any voter who is not physically able to vote in person at their assigned polling place or will be outside Warren County on Election Day should request an absentee ballot.
Absentee Ballots may be requested by mail or may be requested in-person at the Board of Elections office at 1340 State Rte 9. in the Warren County Municipal Center in Lake George.
Requests by mail must be postmarked by October 28th. Ballots may be requested in person through November 3rd. Completed ballots must be postmarked by November 3rd, or delivered in person to the Board of Elections office by November 4th.

In Memory of Glens Falls Mayor LeRoy Akins
The Warren County Democratic Committee expresses its condolences to the family of Mayor Akins and thanks him for his dedicated service to his community and his country. We are proud to have had such a dedicated, tireless and cheerful leader who worked hard to improve the community for all its citizens.
A native of Glens Falls, Mayor Akins served in the Navy and New York State Tourism before advancing to serve his community as the Mayor of Glens Falls. Mayor Akins is survived by his wife Phyllis, three children, five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, a sister and brother.

Find your voting district, locate your polling place and confirm your registration status by looking up your voter registration record , or locate your district by district maps on your respective town page or the official Warren County Board of Elections site. Once you know your voting district, look up your voting location at the list of polling sites available through your respective town page or the official Warren County Board of Elections site.
Registration
Voter registrations must be postmarked by by October 10th and received by the Board of Elections by October 15th, or delivered in-person to the Board of Elections by October 10th. The Board of Elections is located at 1340 State Rte 9. in the Warren County Municipal Center in Lake George. Those discharged from the military or naturalized as citizens after October 10th may register in person through October 24th. A Change of Address must be received by the Board of Elections by October 15th.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballots may be requested by mail (requests must be postmarked by October 28), or may be requested in-person at the Board of Elections office through November 3rd. Ballots must be postmarked by November 3rd, or delivered in person to the Board of Elections office by November 4th.

Voters will be selecting a new Glens Falls mayor in the November 4th election to fill the remaining term of LeRoy Akins, who passed away on August 10th. Former candidate Judy Villa-White has dropped out of the race and endorsed John "Jack" Diamond in the Glens Falls mayoral race. Jack, a registered Democrat and acting mayor, is running on Conservative and Independent lines.
2008 Primary Election
The 2008 Primary Election (for offices other than President) is scheduled for September 9th. There are no Democratic Primary races in Warren County for this election.
The next election will be the General Election on November 4th.
