20th CD Democrats select Scott Murphy

Warren County Democratic Committee Chair Bill Montfort, and county chairs representing the other counties in the 20th Congressional District met in Albany on February 1st, and after interviewing several finalist candidates, selected Glens Falls resident Scott Murphy to run in the special election to fill the vacancy in the 20th congressional district seat resulting from Kirsten Gillibrand's appointment to the Senate. The date for this special election will be set by Governor David Paterson.

Scott Murphy is Managing Director of Advantage Capital Partners in Glens Falls. Several years ago he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for the Governor of Missouri. He is also President of the Upstate Venture Association of New York. Previously, he acted as CEO of Small World Software. Murphy holds a B.A. from Harvard where he was President of Perspective, a monthly political magazine.

The 20th Congressional District includes parts of Warren, Essex, Columbia, Otsego, Dutchess, Saratoga, Washington, Greene, Delaware, and Rensselaer Counties.
